Why this project?

The existing accommodation at Kabanga OSBP is insufficient and far from the OSBP. As a result, kabanga/ Kobero OSBP operates on the average, 10 hours day instead of 24/7. Due to limited time devoted to clearance process, trucks arriving at the border after 6 pm have to spend a night at either Kobero or Kabanga which adds to the cost of doing business. It is expected that after completion of the project, key border agencies operating at Kabanga will be accommodated in the new accommodation and motivate them to work for 24/7

What:

Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), with the support of TradeMark Africa (TMA) is embarking on a process of improving clearance efficiency at border posts by providing facilities and equipment which allows combining activities of adjoining states’ border officials for each border, thereby allowing traffic to stop only once in each direction. Provision of staff accommodation at Kabanga improve staff safety, security and morale to serve day and night hence, increasing working hours from the present 10 to 24/7 hours. Key expected results include;

  • Increased Working hours at Kabanga/Kobero
  • Increased Efficiency in the clearance of traffic
  • Improved turnaround times for transit traffic
  • Further reduction of time to cross the border and cost of doing business

How:

The project will assist TRA efficiency in the clearance processes in collaboration with other border agencies operating at Kabanga/Kobero
